Connecting Meta Datasets and Ad Accounts for Audience Syncing
Overview
To publish and sync Orbee segment audiences to Meta Ad Accounts, two requirements must be met within the Meta Business Suite:
- The Meta Dataset must be connected to the Ad Account.
- Orbee must have Full Control / Manage permissions for both assets.
If these configurations are missing, audiences generated in Orbee cannot populate or update in Meta Ads Manager.
Why Connection is Required
Asset Relationships
Meta enforces strict asset relationship rules for data privacy and ad targeting. Even when Orbee has individual access to an Ad Account and a Dataset, Meta cannot route audience data between them unless the two assets are explicitly linked within Meta Business Manager.
Permission Levels
Publishing custom audiences requires administrative API actions. Standard View or Edit permissions do not grant the necessary security clearance for Orbee to create or update audiences.
Required Configurations
The table below outlines the specific settings required within Meta Business Settings for successful audience syncing.
| Asset Type | Required Action | Required Permission Level |
| Dataset | Connected to the corresponding Ad Account under the Connected Assets tab. | Full Control (Manage Dataset) granted to Orbee. |
| Ad Account | Linked to the corresponding Dataset. | Full Control (Manage Ad Account) granted to Orbee. |
Expected Sync Timeline
After the assets are connected and permissions are updated, Orbee can initiate the audience sync. Meta requires 24 to 48 hours to process the data and display the populated audiences within Ads Manager.
